Off-Duty Police Officer Arrested for Pointing Gun at Gas Station in Pasig City
An off-duty police officer was arrested after allegedly pointing a gun at a vehicle at a gas station in Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City.
On Sunday evening, October 25, 2026, 41-year-old police staff sergeant was seen holding a firearm and walking unsteadily around the gas station along Sandoval Avenue based on cellphone videos of the incident.
Another video showed him pointing the gun at a vehicle that was being refueled, raising concerns among people in the area.
A concerned citizen sought help from barangay officials, who responded to the scene. Members of the barangay security force helped deal with the situation and managed to remove the firearm from the officer.
Witnesses said the officer was shouting and acting aggressively while holding the gun. The incident frightened people nearby because of the danger posed by an armed individual in a public place.
Pasig City Police Station officers later arrested their fellow police officer and took him into custody.
“Ang nangyari pa nga po, tumayo pa roon sa may gitna yung pulis na may dalang baril. Nagsisisigaw, nag-aamok,” Lolita Gabato said.
Initial investigation showed that the firearm was the officer’s issued service weapon. Police also confirmed that he had been drinking alcohol at the time of the incident. He was reportedly dealing with family problems, although authorities have not provided further details.
The Pasig City Police Station strongly condemned the incident, stressing that police personnel must follow the law and maintain discipline, professionalism, and accountability. The station also made clear that misconduct and the misuse of authority would not be tolerated.

The arrested officer declined to give an interview. He is currently in custody and faces a grave threat complaint. Authorities also said administrative charges would be filed against him, which could lead to suspension or dismissal from the police service.
