P-Pop Group Play PH Turns Bashing Over “Crush Kita” Performance Into Motivation

Rising P-pop boy group Play PH has finally spoken about the online buzz surrounding its live performance of the original song “Crush Kita,” which drew mixed reactions after it spread on social media. The six members, Travis, Gab, James, Kenji, Wesley and Sean, said they are choosing to treat the criticism as a push to get better.

The group first performed the song on PTV’s morning show “Rise and Shine Pilipinas.” According to DZRH News, clips of the performance began circulating online on October 31, with netizens questioning the members’ vocals and overall stage delivery. Some users also turned the line “Kaya mo ‘yan, kaya ko ba, kaya ko na” into memes about everyday struggles.

During a guesting on GMA’s “Unang Hirit,” the members admitted they felt mixed emotions about going viral. As reported by Latest Chika, Gab said the good side was the attention, but it also brought more bashers. He added that they take the negative comments positively and use them as motivation to improve.

The group explained that the PTV appearance was their first live television performance, and that some members were sick at the time with fever and colds. In a message on its official Facebook page, Play PH also reminded supporters that a single performance should not define what the group can do.

Sean shared that Play PH has not officially debuted yet. The members have been training for about three months, and he said their debut is targeted around January 12. The TV guestings, they explained, are part of their preparation as a group.

Kenji even thanked the people who took time to comment on their performance, saying it taught them to stay humble. Travis, meanwhile, said he was excited to finally be seen on television and to recognize himself in viral clips on TikTok.

On “Unang Hirit,” Play PH warmed up with vocal exercises before performing “Crush Kita” again in what the program called a comeback performance, this time with a stronger showing.

For a group that has yet to debut, the viral moment has become an early lesson in handling public attention, and fans are now watching how far their hard work will take them.
