Richard Gomez received this accusation
Philippine Fencing Association Rene Gacuma accused Leyte Congressman Richard Gomez of assaulting him.
Before becoming a politician, Gomez was already known as one of the most successful actors of his generation. Her achievements in the entertainment industry have become an inspiration to many younger stars.
Aside from his success in showbiz, Richard also had recognitions in the field of sports. He played various sports and actively supported Filipino athletes.
For the SEA Games 2025, Richard Gomez represented the Philippines in the sporting clays competition, and he won a silver medal. His wife, Ormoc City Mayor Lucy Torres, was also present in Thailand to show support for him.
Following the reports about Gomez’s recent achievement in sports, an accusation against him surfaced. Based on the report from News5, Rene Gacuma sent a letter to the Philippines chef de mission, Raul Canlas, to report that the actor-athlete-politician physically attacked him.
The PH Fencing Association Chief also claimed that some people at the Fashion Mall, wherethe SEA Games fencing is being held, saw the incident. According to Gacuma, the issue between him and Gomez was prompted by the decision to replace Alexa Larrazabal in the individual women’s epee event,
Apparently, this did not sit well with Gomez, and allegedly, he made Gacuma feel that he did not like that decision. He is the PFA director and second vice president of the Philippine Olympic Committee.
“When I extended my right hand to congratulate Mr. Gomez, he planted his right foot heavily on my left foot to limit my mobility. He squeezed by right thumb very hard like he wanted to dislocate it and simultaneously said ‘who gave you the authority to replace that athlete?’ Na-take up ninyo ito sa Board Meeting in my (Mr. Gomez’s presence)? (Expletive) mo Rene. (Expletive) ka,” Gacuma shared.
As of this writing, Richard Gomez has yet to release a statement about this matter.
