2 Lady Passengers File Complaint Against Transport Van Over Poor Service During Trip to Iloilo

Two lady passengers have filed a complaint against a transport van operator over alleged poor service during a trip from Caticlan to Zarraga, Iloilo.

According to one of the complainants, a resident of Manoc-Manoc, Boracay, she was traveling with her two young sons when the problem happened. The incident happened around noon on Monday (September 14, 2026) in Banga, Aklan.

The passenger said they boarded a transport van in Caticlan and paid ₱600 per passenger before leaving. The trip was reportedly going smoothly until the vehicle experienced a mechanical problem while passing through Banga.

Because of the issue, the driver was forced to stop the van and could no longer continue the journey.

The passengers were then informed that they would be transferred to another vehicle so they could proceed to their destination. Hoping to continue their trip without much delay, the passengers waited for the replacement van to arrive.

However, according to the complainant, the wait stretched to nearly three hours. Despite the long wait, no replacement vehicle reportedly arrived. As time passed, passengers became increasingly frustrated and worried about reaching their destinations.

The complainant said the driver later suggested that they simply board a Ceres bus instead of waiting any longer for another van. Because of the inconvenience and the uncertainty of the situation, she decided to request a refund for the fare they had already paid.

The woman claimed that instead of receiving a full refund, she and another passenger were allegedly charged P230. This added to their disappointment, as they felt they did not receive the service they had paid for.

The two women chose to bring their concerns to the police so that the matter could be officially recorded. They also expressed hope that transport operators would improve their services and have better plans in place for emergencies such as vehicle breakdowns.
