7-Eleven Earns Praise for Moving Ready-to-Eat Foods Behind Counter

7-ELEVEN – A reported change at 7-11 branches is catching attention as the convenience store moves ready-to-eat food items behind the cashier counter.

A reported change in the way a convenience store handles its ready-to-eat food has received positive reactions online, particularly amid recent concerns over customers improperly touching or handling food products.

A video circulating on X, formerly known as Twitter, showed a 7-Eleven employee taking a sandwich bun from a food display located inside the cashier’s booth. The setup reportedly limits direct customer access to the food, preventing shoppers and unauthorized individuals from opening or handling the products themselves.

The video was shared by an X user on Friday, September 11, along with the comment, “Ayan, mababawasan na mga dugyot sa 711.”

Text displayed in the clip also praised the reported arrangement, saying, “Good job, 7-Eleven, nasa loob na ng cashier ang mga ready-to-eat foods.”

The post quickly attracted attention from social media users. It accumulated around 3,700 likes, 380 quotes, and 74 replies, with many commenters expressing approval of the move.

One user asked whether the new arrangement had already been implemented across 7-Eleven branches, while noting that Alfamart has long kept similar food displays near the cashier.

Another commenter recalled that the setup was also used by 7-Eleven in the past. The user said customers were eventually allowed to get the food themselves but welcomed the reported return of the previous arrangement. The commenter suggested assigning additional personnel to monitor the food section so cashiers would not have to handle the task while serving customers.

Another Filipino social media user also welcomed the reported change, saying, “Finally, 7/11 made a solid move to protect the integrity of the food they sell.”

The positive response comes after several incidents involving convenience store food displays gained attention online this year. Videos showing customers eating from or licking products placed in 7-Eleven displays sparked discussions about food safety and proper handling.

At least three similar incidents reportedly went viral, including one involving a youth leader from Laguna.

In response to the concerns, 7-Eleven assured the public that “any product that has been improperly handled is immediately disposed of.”

The company also warned that it would “pursue legal action” against people who deliberately engage in improper or unsanitary behavior involving its products.

The reported change in food display placement has therefore been viewed by many Filipinos as an added precaution to help maintain cleanliness, food safety, and customer confidence.
