Pres. Bongbong Marcos commemorates his father’s birth anniversary
President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr. paid tribute to the 109th birth anniversary of his father and namesake, former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., on Friday, September 11, 2026.
The President traveled to their home province of Ilocos Norte to spearhead a series of commemorative events and tribute activities.
Had he been alive, Marcos Sr., who was born on September 11, 1917, would have turned 109 today. On Facebook, the President reminisced about his father and the lessons he left behind.
He highlighted the vital life lessons he learned from the late President, such as the values of duty, honor, and public service.
“Remembering my father on his birthday. My father, from whom I learnt the most important lessons of life. He taught me to value Duty, Honour, and Country. To live for others and not oneself. Happy Birthday, Dad,” Pres. Bongbong Marcos stated in the caption of the post.
According to President Bongbong, among the most important lessons his father taught him was the value of duty, honor, and country.
The President and the First Family attended a Mass at the Immaculate Conception Parish in Batac City, Ilocos Norte, based on a report from Philippine News Agency.
After the mass, the President led a formal program and wreath-laying event at the Marcos Monument, also located in Batac City.
Meanwhile, President Bongbong declared September 11 a special non-working holiday in Ilocos Norte to commemorate his father’s 109th birth anniversary.
The Chief Executive is expected to personally lead the activities for Marcos Sr.’s birthday celebration in his hometown of Ilocos Norte.
Decades after the presidency of Ferdinand Marcos Sr., President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr., occupies Malacañang Palace. Marcos Jr. won the Philippine presidential election on May 9, 2022, by a historic landslide against his prominent opponent, former Vice President and incumbent Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo.
