Harry Roque Makes Bold Statement Amid Sara Duterte Arrest Warrant
SARA DUTERTE – Harry Roque has once again voiced his support for the Duterte family, this time revealing what he claims he would do if he were facing the same legal situation as Vice President Sara Duterte.
Former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said he would willingly face arrest and imprisonment if he were in the position of Vice President Sara Duterte, amid the legal case she is currently facing.
Roque expressed his opinion following the issuance of an arrest warrant against Duterte in connection with three counts of grave threats filed against her. The former government official shared his thoughts through a post on Facebook, saying that Duterte should allow herself to be arrested to demonstrate what he described as the alleged abuse of the current administration.
“Kung ako si Inday Sara Duterte, magpapahuli ako. Hahalik ako sa rehas para ipakita na abusado itong presidenteng ito at gobyernong ito,” said Roque.
Roque has long been identified as a strong supporter of the Duterte family. He previously served as presidential spokesperson during the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte, a role that placed him prominently in the former president’s administration.
The former Palace official is also facing a human trafficking case reportedly linked to Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs). Roque is currently seeking asylum in the Netherlands as he deals with his own legal situation.
Meanwhile, former President Rodrigo Duterte remains detained at an International Criminal Court (ICC) detention facility while facing proceedings before the international tribunal.
For her part, Vice President Sara Duterte has already posted bail amounting to P360,000 for the three counts of grave threats filed against her.
Duterte explained that her lawyers advised her to seek bail rather than remain separately detained under police custody. She said the recommendation was intended to provide her with greater protection and visibility while the case proceeds.
“Nakipag-usap sa akin ang aking mga abogado at pinayuhan nila akong magpiyansa sa halip na manatili sa hiwalay na pagkakakulong habang nasa kustodiya ng pulisya,” said VP Sara.
She further explained that remaining outside detention could allow members of the public to observe her situation more closely.
