LTFRB Chair Vigor Mendoza to Transport Groups Planning a Strike: “Huwag nang dagdagan ang problema”
LTFRB Chair Vigor Mendoza has a message for groups planning to hold a transport strike, urging them not to add more problems.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board is calling on transport groups to think carefully before pushing through with a planned strike from April 15 to 17, 2026. Chairman Vigor Mendoza appealed to drivers and operators to consider the current situation and avoid actions that could add more difficulties for the public.
While the LTFRB said it is ready to handle the situation, Mendoza shared that they are hoping for cooperation instead of disruption. He explained that the country is already dealing with many challenges, and unity would be more helpful at this time.

Despite the planned strike, several transport groups have decided not to join. Among them are PISTON, Pasang Masda, and the Alliance of Transport Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines. These groups believe that stopping operations may not be necessary at the moment.
Leaders from these organizations shared that many drivers are already struggling due to rising fuel prices. Some have even reduced their trips or stopped working temporarily because of the high cost of diesel.
“Handa naman tayo diyan parati. Mayroon tayong nakaabang na mga sasakyan… Kinakausap natin sila. Sa rami ng ating problema ngayon, huwag na sana nila dagdagan ‘yung problema… Sana magtulung-tulong nalang,” Mendoza said.
For them, this is not only a local issue but part of a bigger global problem affecting many countries.

There are also concerns about how a transport strike could affect daily commuters. Many believe that passengers may suffer the most, especially those who rely on public transportation for work and school.
Meanwhile, the Department of Transportation remains hopeful after a recent rollback in diesel prices. Officials are optimistic that this could continue and eventually ease the burden on both drivers and commuters.
The authorities are encouraging cooperation and understanding among all sides to avoid further inconvenience to the public.
