Neighbor Burglar Arrested After Breaking Into Nearby Home
A 35-year-old man was arrested after stealing valuables from a neighbor in Barangay Bagbag, Novaliches, Quezon City.
On September 1, 2026, a man was arrested after allegedly robbing his neighbor. The incident was captured by a CCTV camera at around 3:00 a.m. The footage showed a man wearing a hat and face mask entering the property while most of the residents were asleep.
The suspect was seen carefully observing the surroundings before slowly making his way to the second floor of the house.
According to investigators, the CCTV recording suddenly stopped after the suspect allegedly cut the camera’s wiring. He then took the entire CCTV set along with two pairs of shoes valued at nearly P20,000.
The victim only discovered the burglary the following morning after noticing that parts of the house had been left open. Upon checking their belongings, they realized that several items were missing and immediately reported the incident to the authorities.
Police quickly launched an investigation and reviewed the available CCTV footage. Despite the suspect’s attempt to disable the security system, the video provided enough clues to identify him.
Investigators noted distinctive tattoos and markings on his hands, which helped confirm his identity. It was later discovered that the suspect lived in the same neighborhood as the victim.
With police assistance, authorities proceeded to the suspect’s residence and arrested him shortly afterward.
The thief admitted his involvement in the theft and expressed remorse for his actions. He claimed that he committed the crime because he needed money to buy milk for his child. He also revealed that he had already sold the stolen items to an acquaintance for only P150.
Police records further showed that the suspect had previously been imprisoned for illegal drug-related offenses, illegal possession of firearms, and theft.
He is now facing another theft complaint and remains under police custody as legal proceedings continue.
