President Bongbong Marcos Urges Gov’t Agencies To Hold “Simple” Christmas Parties After Calamities

This is the advice of President Bongbong Marcos to the government agencies.

A series of calamities has struck various parts of the country, and President Bongbong Marcos encourages government agencies to do this.

Previously, strong earthquakes shook several parts of the country. Following the 6.9 magnitude earthquake in Bogo City, Cebu, a strong tremor – a 7.6 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental had occurred.

Recently, Visayas reeled from the strong Typhoon Tino, and Cebu, after the shaking, suffered huge flooding. Based on the recent records, the death toll in Cebu has climbed to 92 already.

Here are the death counts as of this afternoon, Wednesday, November 5, 2025:

  • 35 — Liloan
  • 16 — Compostela
  • 9 — Cebu City
  • 9 — Danao
  • 9 — Mandaue
  • 7 — Talisay
  • 1 — Consolacion
  • 6 — Balamban

Following these calamities, President Bongbong Marcos ordered the government agencies that this coming Holiday season, they should hold “simple” celebrations in light of the saddening and destructive incidents that devastated parts of the Philippines. This will show respect to the people who fell victim to the flash floods and landslides.

Malacañang announced the directive of the president on Wednesday.

During a briefing, Communications Undersecrertary Claire Castro said, “Kasunod ng mga sakuna sa bansa, paalala ni Pangulong Ferdinand R.  Marcos Jr., at nang DBM sa ahensya ng pamahalaan: gawing simple ang pagdiriwang ng holiday season.”

This is accordingly the president’s way to express his solidarity with the people who are experiencing numerous challenges caused by the successive disasters in the country. The call is also a part of the President’s push for a “Bagong Pilipinas.”

“Paalala sa mga kawani ng gobyerno, mahalaga ang pagdiriwang ng Pasko nang may pag-alala sa kapwa nating patuloy na bumabangon at nagsisimulang muli mula sa maraming kalamidad na tumama sa bansa,” Castro added.
