Sen. Robin Padilla shuts down political anticipation for him

Senator Robin Padilla reiterated in a recent social media post that he will not be running in the 2028 elections.

It was a surprise to many Filipinos when the “Bad Boy of Philippine Cinema” decided to enter politics. He even became the number one senator in the 2022 elections.

In recent months, his supporters have been anticipating his future decisions when it comes to his career in politics.

Previously, Sen. Robin Padilla’s wife, celebrity vlogger Mariel Padilla, said that the actor-politician has no plan for reelection. She even said that she thinks that the public doesn’t deserve her husband.

However, there were supporters who are wishing for him to run for vice president. For them, Padilla should be the running mate of VP Sara Duterte in the 2028 elections. Controversial director Darryl Yap echoed this, as he also anticipated that Padilla would run for vice president.

In a previous statement, former Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said that Padilla will be the next president.

Despite the call from his allies and supporters, Padilla once again stated that he has no plan to return to the political arena in the next elections.

Assalamu alaikum mga kababayan. Wala na po akong planong tumakbo sa pulitika,” he stressed in his Facebook post on Friday, September 18.

The Senator explained that he wants to raise his young children and pursue a peaceful Islamic life, adding that he feels he does not belong in the world of politics.

Then, Sen. Robin Padilla shared his personal choices for who he thinks fit to be the running mate of VP Sara Duterte.

The actor-politician also expressed appreciation to his supporters. “Maraming salamat po sa napakaraming kaibigan na nagtutulak sa aking pananatili sa pulitika, pero halata naman po na hindi ako nababagay sa mundong ito,” he said.

Sen. Robin Padilla also shared this quote: “Revolutionaries do not sit on thrones; they tear them down.”
