Lito Lapid and Pia Cayetano had this light moment during a recent Senate session
Senator Lito Lapid said “mahal kita” to Senator Pia Cayetano, and this garnered teasing reactions from people at the Senate plenary session.
Lapid transitioned from showbiz to politics years ago, and while he is serving as a Senator, he still does some acting projects once in a while.
His political career garnered polarizing comments. Supporters were always behind him, but critics were also vocal. One of the recent negative reactions that he received was from veteran broadcaster Korina Sanchez.

The Bilyonaryo News Channel anchor said that she did not know Sen. Lito Lapid had won. Apparently, this meant that she couldn’t feel his presence in the government. On the other hand, Lapid recently received positive words from his colleague.
Based on the report from ABS-CBN, Sen. Pia Cayetano thanked Lapid during the Senate plenary session on Tuesday for sending her traditional Filipino sweets even though they currently have different political views.
Lapid is in the minority bloc, while the female senator is in the majority bloc. “Gusto ko lang magpasalamat kay Sen. Lito Lapid na kahit na magkaiba na tayo ng partido… We are batchmates, so magkasama kami since 2004,” Sen. Pia Cayetano said.
The female senator added that, whether majority or minority, Lapid would never fail to send her “maja blanca” and “suman.”

Then, the actor-politician replied, “Gusto ko po kasing malaman mo na mahal kita.” Because of this, laughter from the audience was heard, and Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano commented on this.
“I am trying to figure out bakit maja blanca ang binibigay sa kanya samantalang sinabi ko na kay Kuya Lito Lapid na ako’y umiinom na ng maintenance medicine para sa cholesterol pero sisig pa rin ang dinadala niya para sa akin. So iniisip ko kung mahal din niya ako o si Sen. Pia lang,” the male Cayetano said.
With this, Majority Leader Joel Villanueva jokingly said, “Mr. President, nilalapit ka daw niya sa Diyos.”
Meanwhile, Sen. Lito Lapid said on Tuesday that he maintains his allegiance with the 11-member minority bloc. He also encouraged his colleagues to stop arguing to restore the Senate’s dignity.
