Over 3 Million Residents Lose Power Due to Typhoon Uwan, According to NEA
Nearly three million residents across several provinces lost electricity after Typhoon Uwan struck the country, according to NEA.
The National Electrification Administration reported that the powerful storm caused widespread power outages, mostly due to downed power lines and damaged transmission systems.
On Monday morning (November 10, 2025), NEA’s latest report states that the affected areas include Aurora, Bicol, Nueva Ecija, Nueva Vizcaya, Northern Samar, Samar, and Quirino.
Several electric cooperatives declared total power interruptions as a result of the storm’s impact.
As of the report, 34 electric cooperatives remain without electricity, while 32 have already restored partial operations. A total of 2,931,220 consumers are still waiting for power to be restored in their communities.
In Catanduanes, flooding also affected the operations of the First Catanduanes Electric Cooperative (Ficelco). Repair teams have already been deployed to assess and fix the damage.
NEA Administrator Antonio Almeda asked for patience and understanding, explaining that restoring power after a typhoon takes time because every line must be carefully inspected for safety before re-energizing.
Meanwhile, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) reported that 32 transmission lines in Luzon and the Visayas are still unavailable. These include two 138-kV lines, eight 230-kV lines, two 350-kV lines, and one 500-kV line. So far, nine lines have been restored, while 44 others are still under repair.
Authorities assured the public that restoration work is ongoing, with crews working around the clock to bring electricity back as soon as possible.
While power interruptions remain a challenge, officials reminded everyone to stay cautious and prioritize safety while waiting for full restoration in the affected areas.
