QC Court Issues Arrest Warrant vs. Vice Pres. Sara Duterte over ‘Grave Threats’

SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President broke her silence following the issuance of an arrest warrant against her by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 98.

Recently, the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 98 released an arrest warrant against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. The said warrant was over the three counts of grave threats she’s faced with in line with her remarks against Pres. Bongbong Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

The issue stems in the 2025 remarks of Vice Pres. Duterte. The Vice President reportedly claimed that she hired someone to kill Marcos Jr., the First Lady, and the former House Speaker in case a supposed plot to assassinate her succeeds.

Amid the criticisms and investigations, Duterte claimed that there was allegedly no active threat in her statement. Today, the Vice President arrived at the Quezon City Hall of Justice.

Based on The Philippine Star, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that she fears for her children and she does not feel safe. According to her, she does not feel that her kids are safe when she’s with them.

“I have documented threats and harassment since 2023. I fear for my children. I do not feel they are safe if I am with them.

Umalis na nga ako kung nasaan mga anak ko para pumunta sa korte pero pumunta pa rin ang pulis.

I do not feel safe. Pakiramdam ko papataying nila ako,” the Vice President said based on the post.

Currently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is faced with an impeachment trial as well. It came after two (2) impeachment complaints were found substantial in form, substance, and grounds by the House of Representatives’ Committee on Justice.

Here are some of the grounds raised against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte:

  • Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes in amassing and converting the amount over PHP 500 million confidential funds (CF) allocated to the Office of the Vice President from 2022 to 2023
  • Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes in amassing and converting the amount of not less than PHP 112.5 million of confidential funds allocated to the Department of Education (DepEd) for the year 2023
  • Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust by corrupting and bribing officials of the DepEd
  • Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution, betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes in contracting to murder or assassinate the president, the first lady, and the former speaker of the House
  • Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust in amassing unexplained wealth and failing to disclose all her properties and interests in properties in her SALN
  • Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust in committing acts of political destabilization and the high crimes of sedition and insurrection

Malacañang has broken its silence on the issuance of arrest warrant against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
