A senior citizen tricycle driver touched the hearts of many people online after a passenger praised him for his hard work despite his age.
Recently, Jing Jing Geronimo Remola, a Facebook user, posted a story about an elderly tricycle driver she met after finishing her night shift. The post quickly gained attention on social media and received positive reactions from netizens who admired the driver’s determination.
According to Remola, she had just completed her duty at a hospital and was heading to a bus terminal when she saw the elderly driver waiting outside. The driver politely asked where she was going and immediately offered her a ride without first asking how much she would pay, something she said not all drivers do.
During the trip, Remola observed the driver closely and was moved by his situation. She estimated that the man was already in his 70s, yet he continued working every day. Despite his age, he still faced the challenges of driving a tricycle under the heat of the sun and during rainy weather to earn money for his family.
The encounter reminded her of her late father, who was also a tricycle driver. Because of this, she felt a deeper appreciation for the sacrifices made by drivers who spend long hours on the road to provide for their loved ones.
When they arrived at the terminal, Remola handed the driver P100. The elderly man reportedly thought she needed change, but she told him to keep the amount and simply take care while driving.
